Adverbs
Definition - Adverbs are words that add information about verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs:
• auch [also], sehr [very], nur [only], hier [here], zusammen [together], langsam [slowly], ...
Types - There are many types of adverbs. The most common are adverbs of manner, place, and time.
Adverbs of manner answer the question 'how?' Examples:
• Gut gemacht! [Well done!]
• Der Zug fährt schnell. [The train goes fast.]
Adverbs of place (link to this page)answer the question 'where?' Examples:
• Dort ist das Taxi. [The taxi is there.]
• Der Bahnhof ist links. [The train station is on the left.]
Adverbs of time and frequency answer the question 'when?' and 'how often?' Examples:
• Morgen fängt der Kurs an. [The course starts tomorrow.]
• Wie oft fährt der Bus? [How often does the bus go?]
