What is a pronoun? A pronoun is - as the word says - to substitute a noun. In a position pro- (for) noun.
e.g. German drink too much beer.
we can also say
They drink too much beer.

ich i [ When the speaker is performer of the action. ]
du you [When the subject performing the action is the person to whom you are
speaking. ]
er he [ When the subject performing the action is the person, thing or an idea
(maskiline) that you are speaking about. ]
sie she [ When the subject performing the action is the person, thing or an idea
(feminine) that you are speaking about. ]
es it [ When the subject performing the action is the person, thing or an idea
(neutrum) that you are speaking about. ]
wir we [ When the subject is plural. ]
ihr you (plural) [ When the subject performing the action is plural to whom you are speaking. ]
